Aiguille du Midì – Eugster couloir 16.05.2010

3800 m ; 1000 m 45°- 50° ; North/NorthWest ; TD+ ; 5.4/ E4

Was only one week ago when i rode for the first time the Eugster couloir on the North face of the Aiguille du Midì.
It has been one of the best line and ride of my life, the conditions were perfect and we rode it in half an hour.
Galvanized by that experience we came back today with the porpouse of riding the Mallory but we were not to sure about the conditions so, once arrived at the “demi lune” (the saddle were the two lines, Mallory and Eugster split up) we decided to take left, following an already known way.
The snow has been amazing just to the demi-lune but almost unskiable below.
It rained really high last night and the snow below the demi-lune was concrete and icy.
It took us more than 3 hours to complete the descent this time.
