LuisinEverytime Mika texts me proposing a day out i always know it gonna be a great day of riding.
This winter so far i have been traveling a lot and we did not have the possibility to ski together due to the different schedules. Beside of being an excellent big mountain skier and great photographer he also knows where the good snow is.
Me and Niko left Chamonix early morning heading towards Les Marecottes in Switzerland where Mika Lives.
It was snowing more than expected. We were worried about the dangers of reaching the first col, doing the long traverse and climbing the ridge with 30 – 40 cm of fresh snow.We decided to go and it took us almost 4 hours to reach the top of the couloir from behind. The couloir itself was so full of snow that had a runnel in the middle with sidewalls steeper than usual.
It is a narrow couloir at the top and the sluff management was the main problem.
We had an incredible ride; with no doubt the deepest day of the season so far!!
